The Avengers

I want to say to all my friends raving about The Avengers… of course you liked it.  Joss Whedon directed it!  And of course you don’t know who he is.

Does that make me a hipster or a nerd?  I don’t know which one, but I think it needs to be said.

Walking for 30 minutes 4-5 times per week can increase a person's lifespan by 20 percent.

nprfunfacts:

Tripling that — running for 90 minutes, 4-5 times per week — improves that number by only 4 percent.

Their album may have come out in 2006, but I am still astounded by the beauty of the song “Umbrellas” by Sleeping At Last.

"Hope, like faith, is nothing if it is not courageous; it is nothing if it is not ridiculous."

Thorton Wilder

Yes, I agree that it’s annoying when people use “your” when they should be using “you’re” in a sentence.

However, I think it’s even more annoying when you’re the person who points it out all the time.  Or if you’re the person who posts inane graphics to their pinterest/facebook page to gleefully demonstrate your proficiency with this basic part of 9th grade grammar.

As Lloyd Dobler famously said in Say Anything, “You must chill.  You must chill.”

"You know when sometimes you meet someone so beautiful and then you actually talk to them and five minutes later they’re as dull as a brick? Then there’s other people, when you meet them you think, “Not bad. They’re okay.” And then you get to know them and… and their face just sort of becomes them. Like their personality’s written all over it. And they just turn into something so beautiful."

Ice Cream

Ice Cream is probably my favorite food.  Well, not really.  But it’s gotta be in the top ten.  I like Mint/Chocolate Chip, Peach, and Zanzibar Dark Chocolate.

The other day at work, one of science teachers was gently making fun of me for how I was eating an ice cream sandwich.  Come to think of it, so was the 7th grader sitting in the office waiting for her mother.  I don’t just eat ice cream; I enjoy it.  So this usually results in getting ice cream all over my face or at least on my nose.

The science teacher leaned over and told me that I eat ice cream like a little kid.  Of course, I took it as a compliment.

One of my best friends told me that she was taken aback at seeing me eat ice cream for the first time.  It was at the Muny.  Apparently, I got some ice cream on my face and then licked my fingers.  It’s weird.  I remember that ice cream too.  Not because of the shock way I ate it, but because it might have been the best ice cream I ever had.  It was like 100 degrees outside.  That ice cream was perfect.  But anyhow, my friend told me she thought I was very uninhibited.  But she stayed my friend.

“Creativity represents a miraculous coming together of the uninhibited energy of the child with its apparent opposite and enemy, the sense of order imposed on the disciplined adult intelligence.”
